Hi, I'm Vanesa Art.
BIO
I love working with couples. If you have come looking for help with your relationship, you are in the right place. Everyone is looking for something just a little bit different when they come to couple’s counseling. It may feel like you are stuck with no place left to go. It may feel like your relationship is in pieces with no clear path how to put it back together. You may feel like you can’t survive one more fight like the one you guys just had, or it might feel like you can’t suffer in silence anymore. Whether it feels like you are constantly fighting, or it feels like you are “room mates”, I can help.
My Educational Background:
My educational journey commenced at Scottsdale Community College, where I achieved certification in Yoga instruction and pursued advanced training in yoga therapy. Following that, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Public Health with a focus on health education from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Subsequently, I completed my Master's Degree in Professional Counseling at Grand Canyon University. I consider myself fortunate to have received education in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which has significantly shaped the trajectory of my career. In addition to my counseling career, I have undergone training in fostering family connections and addressing trauma through interpersonal bonds. I have advanced training in teaching skills. Currently, I am a doctoral student dedicated to the field of marriage and family therapy, pursuing a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy.
My Professional Journey:
My professional journey commenced with part-time teaching of seminary to high school students, an experience I found fulfilling. Recognizing my desire to work more directly with individuals, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in professional counseling. One of my most impactful roles involved working with foster children to establish and nurture family connections. This experience reaffirmed my core belief that we are all inherently wired for loving connections. As a licensed therapist, I specialize in marriage and couples counseling, driven by my commitment to providing the best care for my clients. This commitment is further underscored by my current pursuit of a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, ensuring that I stay at the forefront of my field.
Beyond Therapy:
My personal philosophy aligns with my therapeutic approach. I take pleasure in the moments spent with my husband of 30 years and our young adult children, who bring boundless joy into my life. In the intricate tapestry of family, navigating the challenges of raising teenagers and young adults has emerged as one of the most rewarding seasons of my life. In addition to my passion for counseling, I find fulfillment in practicing and sharing the transformative practices of yoga, breathwork, and meditation. Embracing the warmth of the Arizona sun, you can often find me outdoors, engaging in activities like hiking, walking, and taking leisurely drives with good music. And as a proud grandparent, my three grandchildren add an extra layer of delight and richness to my life.
